How to find your first paying customers

This may be the absolute hardest part of starting your business. Paying customers can come from anywhere, where to go to get them can come down to strategic planning or may just be pure luck!
When you are starting out and looking for paying customers, there is no wrong place to look. With marketing you strive to find the option that works the best but there is no wrong answer. There is no such thing as too many paying customers. If all of your methods of advertising and marketing work great and all sources bring in paying customers then you are doing great! This is not how it works most of the time! The key is to strive to figure out what works best and stick with it. Always keep an eye on marketing as there are times that things stop working and others work better, adjust where you need to. Marketing is not one of those options to fix it and forget it. It needs to be monitored and adjusted frequently.
Where you are going to find your first paying customers is unsure but without advertising and getting your name in front of anyone and everyone not finding your first paying customer is a sure thing. Advertising and Marketing should be your most expensive bill and your name should be everywhere that is can be. Your name should be coming out of people's mouth at every store they enter and people should be familiar with your name upon hearing it! If this is not the case step up your marketing and make it the case!
Ultimately finding the first customer is much like finding the remaining many customers, it is trial and error. It is some what luck. It is word of mouth and advertising. Once you get started it will get easier but you will most likely never be able to completely stop advertising. Once you are completely done with advertising you are completely done with new customers as well. Without your advertising they will not know you are there to come in!
